Anti-Fraud Handler/ Investigator

Jobs like this involve in-depth highly skilled fraud investigations across the spectrum of RSA’s business.  You will use your extensive experience to gather and preserve critical evidence in relation to suspected complex, organised and high value Insurance Fraud across all classes and similarly, manage to conclusion reports. Utilising technology and competently analysing Intelligence to further enquiries, your cases will conclude with detailed reports for senior stakeholders and may result in civil or criminal proceedings which you will support evidentially. 

Part of a small but highly effective team you will be expected to work both collaboratively with colleagues on large scale inquiries and independently managing your own caseload.  Flexibility, resourcefulness combined with a strong work ethic are essential skills you will possess to meet stretching time scales associated with the multidimensional cases you will manage, some of which will be high profile or have some cross industry exposure.

 A key part of your role will be root cause analysis, identifying risks, control gaps along with remediation that will drive preventative activity to protect our business from the impact of fraud.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expeditious management of both proactive and reactive complex fraud enquiries across the business.
  • As an investigator, you will oversee investigations from initiation to resolution, ensuring the customers interests are protected.
  • Utilizing your investigation skills, you will aim for optimal fraud detection in both claims and application fraud (to include the identification of non-standard or complex fraud cases), while providing excellent customer services. 
  • This will include analysing data and red flag indicators to detect unusual patterns and utilising fraud prevention and detection technologies
  • Consulting and collaborating with private investigators and external fraud specialists to manage investigations while adhering to all the associated legislation.
  • Assisting with Supplier management activities to include Audit as required.
  • Concluding reports for internal stakeholders with recommendations.
  • Management of RSA’s business interests in terms of investigation outcomes.
  • Where appropriate prepare and refer cases for Civil proceedings or Criminal prosecution.
  • Root cause analysis identifying fraud risk and control gaps, where appropriate escalating risks and recommend preventions.
  • From case debriefs innovate and improve counter fraud practices and identify gaps and opportunities on a continuous basis.
  • Where appropriate liaise with An Garda Siochana/IFCO re obtaining evidence from local Garda divisions, reporting relevant cases to insurance Fraud Coordination Office (IFCO) and facilitating Data Protection Requests
  • Providing expert advice, guidance and coaching to less experienced colleagues
  • Support, through the delivery of training, the development of technical knowledge and understanding of fraud risks to customers, our business and associated commercial drivers and risks.

 

 

Requirements:

  • CIP qualified (desired but not essential)
  • +3 years Fraud Investigation experience (required)
  • Dip LA / ACILA / ACII (desired but not essential)
  • OSINT investigation skills (desired but not essential)
  • A full clean Driving License is required

 

Regulatory Requirements:

  • This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards (“The Standards”), issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments. The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully comply with them at all times.
  • This role falls within scope of the Minimum Competency Code (MCC) and requires the jobholder to have attained or be working towards the status of ‘Qualified Person’ in the relevant function(s) e.g. personal lines, commercial lines and claims, or have attained a Statement of Grandfathered Status in the relevant function(s). A New Entrant working towards the status of ‘Qualified Person’ must be supervised by a Qualified Person or a Grandfathered Person. The status of ‘Qualified Person’ can be achieved through attaining the qualification of Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP), Accredited Product Advisor (APA), or Associate or Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (ACII or FCII). The jobholder must also comply with all CPD requirements as outlined in the MCC.
