Data Protection Manager – Dublin or Galway

This role involves supporting the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in managing all aspects of the RSA Data Protection Policy to ensure that RSA continues to comply with its Data Protection Requirements.

An important part of the role will be to work closely with the business to ensure appropriate implementation of an effective Data Protection Risk Culture across all parts of the business including RSAII, 123.ie and RSANI. There is a significant advisory and business partnering component and interaction with internal and external stakeholders including the RSA Group DP Office.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Day to day responsibility for ensuring that the Standards and Controls necessary for compliance with the Data Protection Policy are developed and maintained.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the business on compliance with data protection law and regulations i.e. the General Data Protection Regulation, Data Protection Act 2018 and the 2011 ePrivacy Regulations.
  • Assist with developing training and awareness across the organization.
  • Involvement in Projects, ensuring Data Privacy Impact Assessment (DPIAs) are performed where necessary and review for effectiveness.
  • Assist with the design and operation of Data Subject Rights (DSR) requests.
  • Oversee the resolution by the business of ‘Local’ level Personal Data Breaches and Risk Incidents to ensure Data Protection risk is mitigated.
  • Assist the Data Protection Officer in the monitoring of RPAs and RAs raised against the Data Protection Policy.
  • Support the operation of the Third-Party Management process as Risk SME for Data Protection due diligence.
  • Update and maintain the Personal Data Inventory as an integral part of the Record of Processing Activities.
  • Build a strong advisory and consultative capability within the RSA DP Office.
  • Help develop a Data Protection Culture across the organisation.
  • Attend various meetings, committees and forums as a delegate of the DPO. 
  • Liaise as appropriate with the DPC, industry bodies and other third parties as appropriate.
  • Quality and consistency of interpretation and insight
  • Feedback from the DPO and CRO
  • Satisfaction of business leads in terms of quality and timeliness of recommendations, advice, guidance and input to business decisions together with appropriate challenge
  • Compliance with Data Protection requirements
     

Requirements:

  • Insurance and/ or Regulatory Compliance qualifications beneficial.
  • A certification/ background in Data Protection or actively working towards is desirable 
  • 5 years plus relevant experience in a compliance / control environment also desirable
  • Experience of Financial Services, preferably within the Insurance industry


Regulatory Requirements:

  • Data Protection requirements are subject to change, and the role holder is responsible for maintaining an up to date understanding of the data protection regulatory environment.
  • This role is subject to the Fitness and Probity Standards (“The Standards”), issued under Section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 and any subsequent amendments. The role holder must ensure they are fully aware of the Standards and in a position to fully comply with them at all times.
