THE ROLE DESCRIPTION

Role Intent:  To ensure that the integrity of RSA Data is maintained by designing, implementing and managing Enterprise Data Governance. 

Context:  RSA has a central Data and Analytics capability.  The team is tasked with providing Data, MI and Analytics to the Business and for overseeing and managing Enterprise Data Governance.  The team works closely with all functions.  The selected candidate will be expected to bring best in class knowledge to this increasingly critical business function and will operate within the existing Data Governance structures – i.e. Data Governance Forum, Data Owners and Data Stewards.

Reporting Line: The Data Governance Lead will report to the Head of Data Analytics.

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure that the Group Data Management policy and standards are implemented and that all ongoing requirements are satisfied.  These include; reporting, documentation management, governance execution, data quality and lineage related activities.
  • Develop and optimise controls in line with the Group Data Management policy.
  • Monitor the integrity of data as it pertains to the business outcomes.
  • Participate in data governance forum meetings.
  • Provide guidance on the selection of Critical Data Elements (CDEs). 
  • Collaborate with data governance forum members to receive and understand Group policy updates and assist with any policy localisation requirements.
  • Supporting Data Management audit and compliance activities.
  • Operates root cause analysis and owns corrective logs and plans.
  • Identification of business processes and systems that relate to personal data and are deemed in-scope for GDPR.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • In-depth understanding of how data is used within business processes and its impact on desired business process outcomes.
  • Previous experience working in a regulatory environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of RSA’s industry and key business processes preferred.
  • Awareness of the security, privacy, ethics and quality requirements.
  • Project management skills.
  • Deep and comprehensive understanding of the importance of data on the ability of the business to meet objectives.
  • Technical data knowledge – previous exposure to data management applications and tooling and data modelling techniques
  • Facilitation and conflict resolution skills to assist in resolving the different points of view.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, peers and subordinates to support the adoption of data governance policies.
